We just added River Rafting to the itinerary!!! We will go through the Hoh Rainforest! Gonna be sooo beautiful!
Rain-forest country, where you will discover the green wonders of nature in Olympic National Park, is south of Forks Washington off Highway 101. It is a wet and wild forest with huge 500-year-old trees. With about 150 inches of annual rainfall, timber grows there faster than anywhere else.
CAN U BELIEVE WE ARE GOING THERE????

Erin....The Newborn
With 11 days till Forks….today’s feature is about Erin…. The Newborn
I started reading the Twilight series in March of this year after my good friends and co-workers, Anne (Team Edward) and Liz (wolf-lover), invited me to their second-annual Forks trip with another crazy Twilight fan – Lea (R-Pat’s No. 1 Fan in the Universe). As a condition, Anne, the obsessed speed-reader that she is, wanted me to get through all three books come August. (Thank God she hasn’t held me to it as I’m just starting Eclipse!) At that point, I was familiar with the “tween” saga and had seen Twilight only after it came out on cable. Keep in mind, I am not an avid reader; but very much a cult and pop culture movie buff. Therefore, Twilight (the movie) was enough to peak my curiosity. However, Anne and Liz’s raves about the saga/series and beyond was welcomed peer pressure. I also secretly cannot wait to have Lea superimpose my face on a picture with Edward. She has become quite the expert!
I have always been fascinated by vampire love stories. One of my all-time favorite movies is Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder. I could relate to the evil-on-the-outside, good-on-the-inside type of man falling for the brave, innocent and sweet girl with the ability to see right through the monster. Fortunately and unfortunately, I could also understand the type of love that tempted one to sacrifice all of their morals [think first love at age 17]. Since then, I have found myself attracted to pale-skinned men with dark hair/eyes, who possess some unique alternative feature like a widow’s peak hairline or tattoos [oh, the horror!] and more recently, fangs and sparkles in the sun!
At first, I was concerned that having seen Twilight before reading the series might spoil my interpretation of the story. But after reading the book, I thought the movie was a great adaptation. From Kristen Stewart’s clumsy, insecure, self-deprecating (and often annoying) Bella Swan to Rob Pattison’s perfect portrayal of Edward Cullen (my favorite character, of course – with Jasper at a close second) to the romantic and whimsical setting of Forks, Washington (a character in and of itself); it was pretty easy for me to get swept away by my imagination vis-à-vis the books and visually by the cinematography of the film. My reading of Twilight, however slow and sporadic, only intensified my excitement to see the rest of the movies. I couldn’t resist watching New Moon (on Pay-Per-View this time) before finishing the paperback. And, call me consistent, on June 29, 2010 I got the pleasure of watching the Twilight triple feature, including Eclipse (which I had yet to crack open) at 12:08 a.m. on June 30, 2010 with my travel mates.
We are now and forever affectionately known as “Three Twihards and a Newborn.” Forks, here we come!!!

Last minute purchases....
As our trip approaches quickly…we are making our last minute, we cant live without, purchases . This week Anne and I went on a scavenger hunt for the new Eclipse backpacks. Of course, Toys r Us advertises them but doesn’t carry them in the store. BOO! They are sold out now online too…..DOUBLE BOO! Blockbuster didn’t have the one we wanted and Borders just doesn’t have the Twilight sections anymore…WTF?!?! Anyhow….Anne ended up ordering them from Amazon along with some cool Twilight luggage tags! YAY! Also, Liz and I ordered a new Skin It of Edward for our phones…aww I cant wait to put it on! Best of all, on Friday night, I saw Eclipse (for the 3rd time) with Lil Mo and Julia… Please add yourself as a follower to our blog! Don’t let us go out with nobody reading about our grand adventure…that would be sooo sad! There’s only 19 more days till Forks….stay tuned!
Our feature this week is about the beautiful, Liz Black. ( I say Black cuz she is a Jacob fan..even before he was legal...eewww!) Here, in her own words, are the circumstances of when and where Twilight changed her life…..
During the summer of 2008 as I was getting ready to send Nicole to college, I saw an article in Entertainment magazine about Stephanie Meyer. Not ever being much of a reader, I thought maybe I may enjoy her books. I ordered Twilight on Amazon with a gift card and started reading it a few weeks before Nicole left for Arizona. Wasn’t really getting into it as quickly as I had hoped, but when we took Nicole to school, got her settled in her dorm and went back to our room to basically kill time the rest of the day, I finished Twilight. I told Mike I needed to run out to the local bookstore and buy New Moon. I became so obsessed with all characters I needed to know more. I think it was also my way of coping with Nicole being away from home. I started reading New Moon but thought it started a little slow. I was only about a quarter the way through the book when on a Saturday I sat for 8 hours straight and finished the book. Then immediately ran out and bought the third book. By the time I got most of the way through Eclipse, I was so hooked, Mike couldn’t peel me away from the books. I would come home from work and read. Eat dinner, then read. Go the bed and read until 2 sometimes 3 in the morning. I would wake up and read. Mike said you’d better slow down or you will be very sad when you’re done. He was right. The moment I finished Breaking Dawn I wanted to cry, didn’t know what to do with myself. Could not get the stories out of my head. I needed help. My therapy was to buy the entire set for Anne because apparently I thought she needed to feel my pain. Now I’m completely addicted to erotic vampire books. Thanks Stephanie. ~Liz
